What is Vasconia Project?
Vasconia Project (working title) is my first game.
It’s a classic isometric CRPG, inspired by legendary games such as Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, and Pillars of Eternity.
Set in the grim and realistic medieval-fantasy world of Astoria, the game draws from 10th to 14th-century European history, from sprawling empires and feudal kingdoms to wars, plagues, and famine. But this world is also shaped by magic and divine beings, as gods and their avatars walk among mortals, influencing their destinies.
In this land filled with both wonder and peril, you will create and customize your own protagonist, choosing from seven playable classes. Your journey will take you across the kingdoms of Vasconia, Thyrrenia, Kambernia, and Syramar where you will carve your path, shaping politics, economies, and the fate of entire nations.
Your choices matter. Will you submit to the world’s harsh realities, or bend them to your will?
Which platforms will Vasconia Project be available on?
Vasconia Project is currently being developed for PC only, with a planned release on Steam. There are no confirmed plans for console versions at this time
What kind of gameplay can players expect?
Vasconia Project combines deep exploration with tactical real-time combat with pause, delivering an experience reminiscent of classic CRPGs:
Exploration : Travel across a richly detailed world filled with unique locations, hidden secrets, and stories waiting to be uncovered.
Combat : Engage in real-time tactical battles with pause, where positioning, abilities, and strategy determine your survival.
Whether you prefer brute force, political manipulation, or stealth and deception, the game gives you the freedom to forge your own playstyle.
Can I control multiple characters?
Yes! You will lead a party of up to six characters : your protagonist plus five recruitable companions.
With a cast of twenty unique potential companions, each character has their own backstory, personality, and personal quests. The relationships you build (or destroy) will shape the course of your journey. Some allies may stand by your side through thick and thin—while others may turn against you depending on your actions.
How important are choices in the story?
Decisions are at the heart of Vasconia Project. Your actions will shape not just your personal fate, but the world around you:
- Engage in deep, branching dialogues with numerous NPCs.
- Witness real consequences for your choices : alliances, betrayals, and shifting power dynamics.
- Experience a mature and morally complex narrative, where few choices are truly good or evil.
- Discover multiple story paths and endings, ensuring no two playthroughs are alike.
Violence is not always the best solution, but sometimes, it is the only one left.
How long will the game be?
Main storyline: Approximately 20 to 25 hours.
Side quests & exploration: Up to 50-60 hours for completionists.
Replayability: Strong. Choices and class selection significantly alter the story, making each playthrough unique.
Will there be a variety of enemies?
Absolutely. Vasconia Project features nearly 200 different creatures, from classic goblins and trolls to ancient, mythical beings from european folklore.
But remember, the most dangerous monsters often hide behind a kind smile.
Handcrafted with love, no AI-Generated content
Even if it’s a big project and even if i’m alone on it, Vasconia Project is a fully handcrafted experience, with 99% of the game’s assets created from scratch, from 3D models and environments to code, animations and visual effects. As a solo developer, I am committed to delivering a world that is unique, immersive, and artistically cohesive.
That’s why no generative AI is used in the creation of Vasconia Project. Every texture, model, and detail is carefully designed, which naturally extends the development time, but ensures a level of artistic integrity and originality true to my vision. The only assets not created by me are some elements of the vegetation & environment, such as trees, grass and sea, which were sourced externally. Everything else is built from the ground up.
Languages & Localization
Vasconia Project will launch in English, with full translations in French, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. Additional languages, such as Italian, Russian and Polish, are being considered but are not confirmed at this stage due to budget constraints.
As a solo developer, voice acting is not planned for the same reason. However, if the opportunity arises, an English dubbing may be implemented before the release.
Is Vasconia Project a multiplayer game?
Vasconia Project is a single-player game. I have no plans to add multiplayer because i’m creating the gameplay and narrative of Vasconia Project with a solo experience in mind.
When will Vasconia Project be released?
That’s a good (but difficult) question. The game has been in development for over a year and a half (September 2023), but there is no official release date yet. Since this is a solo development project, the focus remains on crafting a polished and immersive experience before announcing a launch window.
